The Lich shot at Finn with his green flames narrowly missing him. Finn ran at the Lich, fist enclosed at winded back; he jumped to the undead creature's face, threw his clenched hand at landed it on The Lich's teeth. With force, The Lich flew back and stumbled by Finn's attack, once it stood up again, he smiled and spoke,

"I am not one to compliment but you Finn, have grown. Physically, AND mentally." Finn didn;t move even after The Lich finished his admiration. "But I am STILL more powerful you will EVER become!" as the Lich shouted this, he clutched his bony hand at the ground, which shook, and out came numerous skeletons wielding daggers, swords, spears, and war hammers.

Almost reaching Finn, Jake his magical talking dog sprung from behind him covered in chain mail and swung his axe. Four skeleton head fell to the ground as Jake repeatedly kept the adversaries at bay. A great hammer came down on two skeletons and reduced them to dust. Mannish Manly Minotaur raised the hammer over his horns crushed three more skeletons. One bony creature tried to thrust it's spear at him but Mannish broke off the attack by blocking the spear's tip with the sword he carried by his waist. That skeleton was then broken into pieces by Mannish's hammer.

As more soldiers came from behind Finn to fight The Lich's armed skeletons, Finn kept in mind his promise to Marceline.

"The last thing I want to do is leave you behind" said Finn.

"Fight that thing and will will die! I don't want to lose you Finn!" pleaded Marceline.

Finn drew himself closer to Marceline and whispered to her ear, "I promise you I won't leave you behind."

"And a hero always keeps his promises..." said Marceline.

"Exactly" said Finn.

His promise summoned to mind, Finn joined in on the fighting but mostly headed straight for the Lich. Halfway to The Lich, Finn was surrounded by skeletons and his allies were too far for assistance. One of the bony structures threw it's war scythe down on Finn be the human dodged it cleanly at caught the center of the staff's frame. Pulling the weapon away from it's wielder, Finn curved the scythe in a circle, knocking off his enemies.By the time the skeletons gathered enough courage to attack, Jake and Mannish broke them away form Finn.

"Jake, Mannish, SLINGSHOT!" yelled Finn.

Upon command, Jake formed his flexible body into a slingshot and Mannish using his brute strength, flung Finn straight at The Lich.

While spinning aerodynamically through the air above the skeletons, Finn shot the war scythe at The Lich, tearing right through his chest and out the other side. The Lich only laughed at Finn as he threw the weapon aside.

"No mortal weapons can harm me! Only the gauntlet of that old fool was able to but that had since then be sent to oblivion!" roared the undead Lich.

Finn raised his claymore at the Lich and ran at him. Believing he meant no harm, The Lich only floated above Finn's reach, though the tip of Finn's sword cut across the Lich's mid-section.

The Lich felt a burning pain after he viewed his cut tunic and roared in unbearable agony. "RAGH! THAT SWORD! HOW COULD THAT HURT ME?!" he said while on his knees.

"This sword may look like any other but it isn't." said Finn holding it firmly. "Because it was made by the broken pieces of The Gauntlet Of The Hero, Billy!"

Angered by his possible defeat, The Lich rushed at Finn but the human kept it away with his sword. Finn soon swung too early and revealed himself to be open for The Lich's attacks. The Lich, seizing his opportunity, shot his bony skeleton hand at Finn.

Finn recalled Marceline saying all the tragedy beginning with The Lich grabbing him. Just before The Lich caught Finn, he eluded the hand and captured it. Realigning the blade with the undead monster's own hand, Finn dropped backwards and The Litch's face was skewered with Finn's broadsword. The monster jolted and shook violently, but quickly halted and fell aside lifeless. The living skeletons also fell to pieces to remained lifeless as Finn and his comrades cheered in victory.

Marceline flew from behind the army and hugged Finn tightly. Together they stood happily.

"Finn, you did it!" said the Vampire Queen.

"Yeah! I saved Ooo TWICE!" said the human.

The Lich slowly arose from behind Marceline, abstracted the sword from his face and threw the tip at the Vampire Queen. Finn reacting fast enough, spun and threw Marceline away, saving her but resulting in the broadsword going through him. Marceline witnessing it all, collared The Lich's neck and screeched,

"STAY DEAD!"

With that, The Lich exploded into gases and shadows. His skull hit the ground proving his departure.

Marceline, exhausted by her attack went back to Finn, removed the sword from his body and picked up his body.

"Finn! You're going to be okay! I know you will!" she said to him.

"No... he...got me good..." wheezed Finn.

"Don't leave me, Finn! You promised me!" pleaded the Vampire Queen, tears already escaping her eyes.

"I know...I...couldn't...keep it..." coughed the human. Blood soon covered his chin and neck.

"Please! Don't die!" cried Marceline.

"Marceline...don't...kill... your...self " said Finn.

Marceline held Finn while he still lay on the ground and his scared hand. The hand she gripped was starting to lose strength.

"No! Please Finn! Don't go!" yelled Marceline.

Finn could only smile at her while as he closed his eyes. Marceline kissed Finn just as the strength in his hand faded. When her head came back up and saw Finn had passed away with his blood on her mouth, The Lich's lair echoed Marceline's cries of sorrow.
